4.What is the difference between organic cotton vs traditional cotton?

The cotton that is widely used to create most of the baby clothes contains numerous pesticides along with harmful chemicals that can harm your baby’s skin.  Here is a brief explanation on how regular cotton is made from start to finish.  The first step is cultivating the cotton.  In this process numerous amount of chemical pesticides and fertilizers are sprayed daily to make the cotton grow. Herbicides are also applied to the soil to prevent weed growth.  The pesticides and herbicides that are used in this process contain highly toxic chemicals that are potentially carcinogenic.  These chemicals can cause nerve damage along with skin irritation. The nest step is harvesting the cotton. When traditional cotton is harvested more herbicides are used to make the picking of cotton easier and quicker.  Each year at least 600,000 tons of pesticides are used in harvesting cotton.  Most of the pesticides are often spayed aerially causing harmful effects on the environment and the cotton workers. The third step is the dying the process.  In this stage chemicals like Chlorine, hydrogen Peroxide, Ethylenediamine tetra-acetate and alkylphenoloxylate are used to give cotton their various colors.  Most of these harmful chemical can stick to the fabric that can cause allergic reaction or rashes that can be harmful to your baby.
Organic cotton does not use any harmful pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilizers that can harm your baby’s skin.  The chemicals that are found in non- organic clothes are petroleum based and often stay on the fabric even after washing.  These harmful chemicals can cause adverse reaction on a baby’s skin. Organic cotton is free from all harmful chemicals that are beneficial for your baby whose immune system is not fully developed.  A baby’s skin is often very sensitive therefore providing them with organic baby wear is the best option from birth.
